This is a cool video featured on the Aviary blog showing some of the tooling in their online, flash/flex based image editing suite.

I’ve had a bit of a play with Aviary and it has the standard tools that you would expect out of an image editor - smudges, lasoo, layers etc. They are aiming at prosumers but will it have enough functionality to keep everyone happy. More as I play around with it..

I think I have blogged about this before but I hadn’t been into my Facebook profile for a while (see facebook fatigue) and was a bit bored so I logged on tonight. I don’t typically add many apps but Socialistics has been on my profile for a little while now.

They have been busy adding a few new features that really appeal to the number nerd in me. The best one so far that I have seen is all the graphing features - now there is a plethora of slicing and dicing available on your friends. You can segment them by gender, home town, political views, current location, religious beliefs, relationship status, year of birth, wall posts, country, age, affiliations, education and companies.

So now I have a definitive answer to the question - “Do you have any single friends?” and tell them that I have 53.33% of my friends are married (some of them are on facebook as well so there is a bit of double counting), 25.56% are in a relationship and that only leaves 21.11% singles out there. So odds are not in your favour if you are asking me for an intro into a potential hookup.

Also interesting is the popularity cloud where you can see which of your friends you have the most personal relevance to. Luckily my wife is number one so she doesn’t have to get too jealous There are a number of clouds available though - proximity, cities, birth year and relationships.

There are quite a few options you can play with - unfortunately the Socialysis function is not available yet but it will be interesting to see what else those guys can make out if it. Not a bad way to spend a couple of minutes whilst idling away.
