Knee update

It’s now been 3 months since my operation and I have been steadily improving. On Monday I had my checkup with the doctor and he has said that I will be able to start my running training now. I can start off on a light jog on predictable surfaces (ie on the treadmill at the gym) before moving up to some road running closer to the 5 month mark. I won’t be able to start training for basketball/touch footy until after 6 months post-op and back to competitive sports 3 months after that. That was a little disappointing as I had hoped that I would be able to get back into it a bit earlier but he said that this is standard. I guess if you are an elite athelete you could get back much sooner than that but that is definitely not my case
The physio tested my knee flex last week and it is at 141 degrees, a 3 degrees difference from my good knee. I asked the doctor about this and he said that anywhere within 10 degrees he considers as to being normal. I have noticed that I have more strength in my hamstrings now and the physio has given me a B+ to an A for recovery (not that I am competitive or anything).
So I can hammer it a little more on the bike now, though I am still a bit cautious about going on the road as you are more open to accidents there. At first I was quite a bit out of shape but it has definitely been getting easier. The physio has recommended more strength exercises as well as more stabilising/balancing type work. This means I can start doing squats with weights as well as leg presses with more of a load. Still at about 60-70% of what I was before, but I can feel that I am now making progress. The physio also has me doing skip rope to get my legs used to jumping again.
