In an <a href=”https://dave.shakenmartini.net/serendipity/exit.php?url_id=270&entry_id=168″ title=”http://australianit.news.com.au/articles/0,7204,17028133%5e16123%5e%5enbv%5e,00.html” onmouseover=”window.status=’http://australianit.news.com.au/articles/0,7204,17028133%5e16123%5e%5enbv%5e,00.html’;return true;” onmouseout=”window.status=”;return true;”>article</a> in the Australian today, Sol Trujilo said the company’s fixed line revenue declined 1.9 per cent in the first half of 2004/05 and by 5 per cent in the second half.<br />

Sol blames it on increasing migration to mobile phones and email but I think he is overlooking the role that VOIP has played - the likes of skype, ichat etc. I know that since my parents have moved over to ichat we rarely use the phone line now. And even my phone line, now that I use <a href=”https://dave.shakenmartini.net/serendipity/exit.php?url_id=271&entry_id=168″ title=”http://www.engin.com.au” onmouseover=”window.status=’http://www.engin.com.au’;return true;” onmouseout=”window.status=”;return true;”>engin</a> I have no need of a fixed line in any case.
