<img width=”74″ height=”110″ border=”0″ hspace=”5″ align=”left” src=”/blog/uploads/Movies/revenge-of-the-sith.serendipityThumb.jpg” alt=”" />Made the trip out to the cinema to view the latest and perhaps the last movie in the Star Wars franchise. Due to disappointing experiences with the last two I perhaps went in with pretty low expectations. Thankfully, George has delivered a quality product this time that is sure to please the fans.
Dad has sent over some photos of some of the freakish weather in Western Australia lately. Not sure who took them but they are fantastic shots. If anyone can tell me who took these shots I’d love to give them credit here! Apparently these photos were taken in <a href=”https://dave.shakenmartini.net/serendipity/exit.php?url_id=221&entry_id=135″ title=”http://www.west-oz.com/Regions/Southwest/Bunbury/bunbury.asp” onmouseover=”window.status=’http://www.west-oz.com/Regions/Southwest/Bunbury/bunbury.asp’;return true;” onmouseout=”window.status=”;return true;”>Bunbury.
RugbyHeaven <a href=”https://dave.shakenmartini.net/serendipity/exit.php?url_id=220&entry_id=133″ title=”http://www.rugbyheaven.smh.com.au/news/Off-The-Field/Im-a-fiveeighth-/2005/05/12/1115843307990.html” onmouseover=”window.status=’http://www.rugbyheaven.smh.com.au/news/Off-The-Field/Im-a-fiveeighth-/2005/05/12/1115843307990.html’;return true;” onmouseout=”window.status=”;return true;”>reports on a tale of treachery and revenge. Some of Shaun Berne’s teammates played an awesome prank on him, faking a “Men’s Health” photoshoot and getting him to pose in a variety of ridiculous poses (see below). Go the teddy bear!
<img src=”http://www.rugbyheaven.smh.com.au/ffximage/2005/05/12/sexyshaunberne,0.jpg” alt=”" />
They then unveiled the results of shoot at an all-team meeting <img src=”https://dave.shakenmartini.net/serendipity/templates/default/img/emoticons/smile.png” alt=”:-)” style=”display: inline; vertical-align: bottom;” class=”emoticon” /> However, Shaun got the last laugh as when the main protaganist of the prank returned home to find that:

…his lounge room had suddenly become an enormous aquarium. Berne had secured Hoiles’s spare house keys, cleared all the furniture from the lounge room and installed an inflatable swimming pool, which fitted perfectly. The pool was filled with water and swimming between lush, exotic plants was an assortment of colourful goldfish. Hoiles thought he had just walked onto the set of a Jungle Jim movie. Not surprisingly several others involved in the original Berne stitch-up, including O’Young, are at the moment very nervous.

I’m just trying to figure out how I could do this to a certain workmate’s desk.. <img src=”https://dave.shakenmartini.net/serendipity/templates/default/img/emoticons/smile.png” alt=”:-)” style=”display: inline; vertical-align: bottom;” class=”emoticon” />

The New York Post has calculated the financial impact of workers taking sickies to watch the final episode of Star Wars this coming May 19th at being $626,880,000!

“There is a lot of anticipation to see the final movie,” said John Challenger, CEO of outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

“With opening day falling on a Thursday, instead of the traditional Friday premiere, we are looking at two days of ‘Star Wars’-induced absenteeism.”

The findings are based on the assumption that attendance during the first two days will match that of the last “Star Wars” blockbuster, “Episode II — Attack of the Clones,” which attracted 9.4 million people in in 2002.

Challenger estimates that 4.8 million of those opening-day attendees are employed at least 35 hours per week. With those full-timers earning an average of $130.60 per day, the two-day cost in terms of lost wages and productivity would be a staggering $626,880,000, he said.

Not surprising that readers have found plot holes in Star Wars? It’s the most popular and best loved entertainment franchise - hordes of fans have spent billions on books, games and the movies. Hours have been taking up in immersion into the Star Wars universe. I think that if Lucas and his team could create a single seamless universe for Star Wars then that would be a minor miracle in itself. MSNBC has articles on plot holes <a href=”https://dave.shakenmartini.net/serendipity/exit.php?url_id=215&entry_id=131″ title=”http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7808592/” onmouseover=”window.status=’http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7808592/’;return true;” onmouseout=”window.status=”;return true;”>here and <a href=”https://dave.shakenmartini.net/serendipity/exit.php?url_id=216&entry_id=131″ title=”http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7803983/” onmouseover=”window.status=’http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7803983/’;return true;” onmouseout=”window.status=”;return true;”>here.

I think some fans will never be satisfied!
Ever wanted to know how a lightsaber works? All your questions are answered <a href=”https://dave.shakenmartini.net/serendipity/exit.php?url_id=210&entry_id=129″ title=”http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/lightsaber.htm” onmouseover=”window.status=’http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/lightsaber.htm’;return true;” onmouseout=”window.status=”;return true;”>here. My favourite uses for a lightsaber would have to be the bagel slicer (it cuts as well as toasts!) and the coffee reheater (now why would you need a microwave if you have a lightsaber?).
